Victor Boniface made a stunning return to action, scoring the opening goal in Bayer Leverkusen's thrilling 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigeria international, who missed Leverkusen's midweek draw at Brest due to a car crash last Sunday, netted his sixth league goal of the season in the 30th minute.

Jeremie Frimpong assisted Boniface's strike, which gave Die Werkself the lead.

The 23-year-old forward played for 70 minutes before making way for Patrick Schick just as in the previous league game.

Boniface's goal return will be a welcome boost for Leverkusen, who remain unbeaten in their last three league matches but are now five points behind RB Leipzig.
