Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has revealed the inspiration behind his unusual goal celebration in Saturday's 4-1 Bundesliga victory over Hoffenheim, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

After scoring his second goal of the game, the 23-year-old Nigerian pulled down his pants, exposing his white cycling shorts, and performed a dance on the touchline before his teammates joined in.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Boniface explained that his celebration was inspired by a popular TikTok trend choreographed by a Nigerian influencer.

"I didn't want to provoke anyone with it. I only did it in front of our own fans," Boniface said. "It's a TikTok trend from a Nigerian influencer, and he's a big influencer. He asked me if I could do it, and I told him: no problem."

Boniface had promised the influencer he would perform the dance if he scored, and he finally got the opportunity on Saturday.

"I would have done it in the first two games, but I hadn't scored a goal yet. And when I did score, it was time to keep my promise," he added.
