Bologna complete €6m deal for Netherlands-Nigeria forward Jay Enem

Netherlands-Nigeria striker Jay Enem has joined Bologna from Red Star Belgrade for €6m, completing a move to Serie A on the final day of August.

The 23-year-old centre-forward has signed a contract with Bologna running until 30 June 2030. Enem, who was born in Amsterdam, is eligible to represent both the Netherlands and Nigeria and joins the Italian club after a brief spell with Serbian champions Red Star.

Enem made four appearances for Red Star in the 2026-27 campaign before his transfer, scoring once in the Serbian Super Liga and contributing an assist in two Europa League qualifying appearances. He also featured twice in Champions League qualifying.

His move to Bologna comes after an important period in Belgrade. Enem helped Red Star win the Serbian league and cup during the 2025-26 season, having initially joined the club from OFK Beograd on loan in January 2026.

Red Star then signed Enem outright on 1 July for €2m, before selling him to Bologna two months later. The Italian club’s €6m fee is above the forward’s €4.5m market value.

Enem began his senior career with Venezia after progressing through Ajax’s youth system. He joined Venezia’s under-19 side from Ajax under-18s in August 2022 and later spent time on loan with Vis Pesaro, Ethnikos and Omonia 29th May.

The 1.95m forward moved to OFK Beograd from Venezia on a free transfer in July 2025. He scored during his time in Serbia before joining Red Star, where he collected domestic honours and made appearances in European qualifying competitions.

Enem is a right-footed striker and becomes a Bologna player after completing his latest transfer on 31 August 2026. His contract with the Serie A club runs until June 2030.
