Blades return thrills Jagielka
Phil Jagielka has returned to newly-promoted Sheffield United, 12 years after the central defender left Bramall Lane and signed for Everton.
The 36-year-old made nearly 300 appearances for the Blades after coming through the club's youth system.
He has been a stalwart at Goodison Park since 2007, making 322 top-flight appearances for the Toffees, while he has represented England 40 times.
Jagielka becomes United boss Chris Wilder's second signing of the summer, following Luke Freeman's arrival from QPR earlier this week.
"I don't have to sign players for the fans to pat us on the back. We're signing Phil because he's a really good footballer and a great character to have around in our first season back in the Premier League," Wilder said.
"He's got an obvious history with the club which is fantastic but meeting up with him and seeing his desire makes me delighted to see Jags back at home."
Jagielka will travel with the rest of the Sheffield United squad on Friday for warm-weather training in Portugal and is expected to feature in next week's friendly against Real Betis
He said of his return to the club: "I've been back once or twice before but it's nice to put the red and white shirt on again. I've kept my eye on The Blades ever since I left.
"It's even more special being back in the Premier League and hopefully we can have a fantastic season."
Sheffield United can be backed at 6/5 not to be relegated in the 2019/20 campaign while they are available at 14/5 to beat Bournemouth on 10th August.
