Blackburn Rovers have praised Ryan Alebiosu's remarkable rise to international recognition after the 23-year-old was named in Nigeria's 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Born in England to Nigerian parents, Alebiosu has committed his international future to Nigeria, filling the gap left by injured players Ola Aina and Benjamin Fredrick.

Alebiosu, a right-back, has started all 19 of Blackburn Rovers' Sky Bet Championship games this season.

The club expressed pride in his progress, saying, "Whilst Rovers are disappointed to be losing a key player at such a crucial stage in the season, the club are proud of Ryan's progress since he completed a summer switch to Ewood Park, which has seen him earn international recognition for the first time in his career".

Alebiosu will join his international teammates after Blackburn's match against Portsmouth on Saturday.
