Birmingham City's talented teenager Koby Arthur could stay at Blues
Koby Arthur could agree a new deal at St Andrew's despite reports linking him with a summer departure, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The 19-year-old is out of contract in the summer and reports emerged over the weekend that he wanted to leave the club having rejected two new deals.
However, the situation does not seem as clear-cut as that and it appears no formal answer has been given, which if true means the talented youngster could still be at the club next term.
Arthur has been offered a two-year deal and if Demarai Gray leaves could be given an opportunity to stake his claim as yet another gifted wide-man from the Wast Hills set-up.
As this stage in his career though the Ghanaian is more a potential than proven Championship operator having barely played last season.
He enjoyed a successful loan with League Two Cheltenham at the start of the campaign and returned to St Andrew’s to put in a couple of decent performances.
However, as Gary Rowett’s tenure unfolded he preferred Gray who replaced his team-mate after the new manager’s first three matches.
While Gray went on to confirm his undoubted talent, to such an extent that he is being linked with Premier League clubs this summer, Arthur struggled for fitness and opportunities.
Rowett has though publicly praised the teenager’s potential and seems a ready-made replacement if Gray decides to leave.
