Real Betis have confirmed the signing of playmaker Nabil Fekir from Lyon.

The French international, who was part of his country's World Cup 2018 winning squad, has spent his entire career to date at hometown club Lyon.

During that time, he made played 193 games, scoring 69 goals and providing 46 assists, with his performances prompting interest from some of Europe's elite.

A move to Liverpool collapsed last summer and he stayed put to help Les Gones finish third in Ligue 1.

While Champions League football would have been available to him at Parc OL, the 26-year-old has opted to move to La Liga, signing until 2023.

It has been all change at the Estadio Benito Villamarin after finishing 10th last term, with Rubi taking over as coach and this latest signing appears a real coup for the club.

A statement read: "Real Betis Balompe and Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Nabil Fekir. The French international has signed a contract until 2023 with the Green and White club. In this way, Fekir becomes the fourth team signing for the season 2019/2020.

"With the arrival of Fekir, Real Betis acquire creativity, great technique, shooting ability and attacking edge."

Betis have been busy in the transfer market this summer and the deal also includes Fekir's brother Yassin, who is expected to be sent on loan to a Segunda Division side.

The Andalusian club begin their campaign next month against Real Valladolid.
