Ashantigold coach Bashir Hayford insists his side will not buckle under expectation  ahead of their title -defining moments in the Ghanaian top-flight.

The miners opened a three-point lead at the top of the table with three games to spare following their comeback 2-1 win over Medeama on Sunday.

But pressure is on for the Obuasi-based club ahead of their trip to the Golden City Park on Saturday where they face Chelsea in an explosive contest.

But the club’s coach Bashir Hayford has moved to ease the mounting pressure on his team by insisting they will weather the storm.

’Well, I understand the game from a different perspective. I am a coach and I have trained the players. That is why we normally say final whistle justifies the end.’’ He told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

‘’ We conceded the first goal against Medeama but until the ninety minutes end, you cannot say a team has lost a game.

‘’The same thing happened when we played Asante Kotoko. They scored first before we equalized. So, I told the boys that it is normal. So there was no pressure on me as well as the players.

‘’We all started at zero. I am on top of the league, so why should I be under pressure? I believe it is the club chasing us who is under pressure. Because they have to double up. There is no pressure on us. We are taking it match-after-match.”

The miners have subsequent games against WAFA and relegation-threatened Great Olympics on the final day of the league.
