Barkley excited by Blues potential
Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley feels there are some exciting times ahead of the west London outfit going into the new season.
With manager Maurizio Sarri moving on to Juventus over the summer, Frank Lampard left his position with Derby County to take the reins at Stamford Bridge.
Former Everton star Barkley has been enjoying getting stuck into pre-season and is looking optimistically at what the future holds.
"It's been really good to be back together with all the boys," Barkley told the club website. "We are working hard. The training sessions have been really intense. We have been up and running with the new manager straight away and we have put in a lot of extra miles."
The England international has also claimed the Blues current transfer ban could prove a blessing in disguise as it means they have retained a settled squad, with some of the club’s youngsters expected to be given a chance.
"There's only Christian [Pulisic] who needs to bed in, plus some of the young lads who will get a chance," Barkley added.
"There is so much talent in the squad. We have got a new manager, a legend of the club, and a new playing style, so it's going to be an exciting season. We're all thinking positively."
Chelsea are 25/1 to win the Premier Leagie title next season.
