Barcelona have paid more than €84m to settle outstanding transfer debts relating to five previous deals, including the signings of Dani Olmo, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

According to Spanish publication Sport, the Catalan club paid €34.4m for Olmo, €19m for Raphinha, €12.3m for Jules Kounde, €11.1m for Lewandowski and €7.3m for Vitor Roque.

The five payments total more than €84m and represent a substantial move by Barcelona to reduce the transfer-related amounts owed from previous transfer windows.

However, the payments do not account for all of the club’s outstanding obligations. As of 30 June, Barcelona still owed other clubs a total of €167.4m, meaning the latest payments covered only part of the club’s transfer liabilities.

A significant proportion of the remaining commitments is linked to the transfer of Anthony Gordon. Barcelona reached an agreement with Newcastle United to defer a payment of €22m until 2027.

That amount was originally due to be paid by the end of June, but the agreement with Newcastle United has allowed Barcelona to move the deadline back. The revised arrangement means the €22m will not be included as a payment made during the financial year that ended on 30 June.

Barcelona’s reported €34.4m payment for Olmo is the largest of the five amounts listed. Olmo is followed by Raphinha at €19m, while the sums relating to Kounde, Lewandowski and Roque are lower but together contribute a further €30.7m to the total.

The figures concern transfer payments made in relation to deals completed during earlier windows, rather than a complete account of every financial obligation held by the club. Barcelona’s remaining debt to other clubs therefore remains significantly higher than the amount settled through these five payments.

The club’s financial year ended on 30 June. As a result, any Barcelona transactions completed from 1 July onwards will not be included in the financial report covering the period that has just concluded.

That timing is important when assessing the club’s transfer accounts. The payments for Olmo, Raphinha, Kounde, Lewandowski and Roque fall within the financial period ending on 30 June, while the deferred payment to Newcastle United has been moved beyond it.

Barcelona have therefore reduced their outstanding transfer debts by more than €84m, but still had €167.4m owed to other clubs at the end of the financial year. The agreement over the €22m owed to Newcastle United is one of the main changes to the club’s payment schedule, with the sum now due in 2027 rather than by the end of June.
