Bachir Belloumi’s Hull City form prompts father’s five-club message

Lakhdar Belloumi has highlighted Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and Manchester City as clubs he believes could suit his son Bachir, who has made an impressive start to the season with Hull City.

The 24-year-old right-winger has started all five of Hull City’s matches so far, scoring twice and providing two assists in the English league.

Belloumi set up a goal against Coventry at the end of August before scoring twice away to Chelsea a few days ago. He then delivered his second assist of the campaign in Saturday’s match at Newcastle.

Speaking to Winwin, his father Lakhdar Belloumi expressed his pride in Bachir’s progress and used the interview to make a clear reference to five of Europe’s most prominent clubs: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and Manchester City.

However, the former Algeria forward stressed that his son remains focused on Hull City. Bachir Belloumi moved to England two years ago from Farense in Portugal and is under contract with the Tigers until the end of June 2029. His market value is estimated at €6m by Transfermarkt.

Return to Algeria squad

The winger’s performances have also earned him a return to the Algeria squad, three years after his only previous call-up. He was selected by Djamel Belmadi in October 2023 but did not make an appearance.

Lakhdar Belloumi welcomed his son’s recall and said he hoped Bachir would take the opportunity to demonstrate his ability.

Algeria will play Zambia in Tizi Ouzou on 25 September before travelling to Bujumbura to face Burundi on 29 September, with both matches part of the qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Greens will complete the international window with a friendly against Niger in Tizi Ouzou on 6 October.
