Ghana forward Andre Ayew is urging his Olympique Marseille teammates to secure a vital win over Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Lyon in their weekend’s clash.

Les Phoceens will enhance their chances of winning the Ligue 1 title if they manage a tough win over Lyon in Sunday’s game at the Stade Velodrome.

Marseille are currently four points behind Lyon but go into the game with an inferior form of the two.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are desperate for a win to end their four-game winless run in Ligue 1.

Andre Ayew wants a big performance from his team to secure the vital three points but says he wouldn’t mind of the side wins ugly.

"Lyon are four points ahead of us. In case of victory we would have reduced their lead,” Ayew said.

“If they were to win, they would be seven points and it would become complicated for us even though a lot of games remain.

“We have the chance playing at home, at the Velodrome stadium, in front of our audience.

“It should be up to win. If you can put in a good display, the better, but this is not the most important.

“With or without the performance, what is important is to take the three points.”
