Awoniyi recalled as Nigeria make three changes for Guinea-Bissau qualifier

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made three changes to his starting XI for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Matchday 2 fixture against Guinea-Bissau.

Stanley Nwabali keeps his place in goal after starting the 2-1 win over Madagascar.

Bright Osayi-Samuel comes into the defence at right-back, replacing Ola Aina. Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey and Bruno Onyemaechi retain their positions in the back four.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi will anchor the midfield alongside Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi. Samuel Chukwueze drops to the bench for the match.

Taiwo Awoniyi is the other change to the starting lineup, taking the place of George Ilenikhena. Ilenikhena scored on his Super Eagles debut against Madagascar.

Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams complete the attacking trio alongside Awoniyi as Nigeria seek a second successive victory in the qualifying campaign.
