Attack on Sunshine Stars Disheartening - 3SC
Following the ugly incident on Sunshine Stars on Thursday afternoon on their way to Benin where they are scheduled to play Insurance, Shooting Stars Sports club in the spirit of the game offered their support to their Southwest brothers, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
Sunshine Stars were attacked along the Ore-Benin express way by some suspected hoodlums.
Reacting to the news Shooting Stars via their media officer, Tosin Omojola offered their supportive message to the Akure Gunners while urging the injured players, ball boy and other personalities onboard quick recovery.
"We received the news of the attack on our brothers, the Sunshine Stars FC of Akure by suspected hoodlums, along the Ore- Benin road, while traveling to honour Saturday's NPFL matchday 13 fixture against Bendel Insurance in Benin, with sadness and shock.
"Most disturbing are the injuries sustained by the Team Manager and a backroom staff of the club, who were shot by the attackers, as well as some players and other officials.
"Our heart is with our brothers as they go through this horrible experience and we wish the injured officials quick recovery.
"May God in his infinite mercy, continue to guard and protect us in all our journeys"
Shooting Stars were in Akure on Sunday where they lost by a goal to nil to their Southwest brothers.
