Atletico launch Felix bid
Atletico Madrid have made a big-money offer for Benfica's highly-rated teenage striker Joao Felix.
Benfica have revealed that the La Liga side have made a bid in the region of £113million to sign the 19-year-old, who scored 19 times for the Lisbon-based team last season, including a Europa League hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt.
"Atletico Madrid submitted a proposal for the acquisition of (Felix) for a total amount of 126,000,000 euros which is being analysed," Benfica said in a statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission.
Felix made his debut for Portugal earlier this month in the Nations League semi-final win over Switzerland.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is keen to land Felix as France international Antoine Griezmann said last month that he would be leaving the club this summer, although as yet his proposed transfer to Barcelona has not been finalised.
However, Griezmann's release clause drops from 200million euros to 120million euros on 1st July and he is believed to have already agreed personal terms with last season's La Liga champions.
Benfica won the Primeira Liga title last season for a record 37th time and were knocked out of the Europa League in the quarter-finals by Eintracht Frankfurt.
Atletico are 20/1 to win the La Liga title this season while Barcelona can be backed at 4/6 and Real Madrid at 11/8.
