Atlanta United will be back on the field on Tuesday when they travel south to place Orlando City SC at the Orlando City Stadium.

Atlanta arrives in town after a brief visit to the top of the Eastern Conference table over the weekend.

United's 3-0 triumph over the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday was enough to take the defending MLS Cup champions above the Philadelphia Union, on the tie breaker, before the Union trounced DC United on Sunday.

Atlanta can do the same again on Tuesday should they beat a City side that is ninth in the standings. Both Atlanta and Philadelphia will host over the weekend with United welcoming in New York City FC and the Union entertaining the Houston Dynamo.

Off the field the big news revolved around Wayne Rooney and DC United. Heading to the US was always a big decision for the former Manchester United, Everton and England star due to family considerations.

It was not surprising to learn that it really hadn't worked out from that standpoint even as Rooney had invigorated DC United on the field. Rooney will move to Derby County in the English Championship in January to take up a Player-Coach role.

While speculation was high that Rooney would leave immediately, that's not the case and staying through the end of the MLS season gives Rooney the chance to lead DC United into the postseason and take a good break before joining Derby. A fresh Rooney, even at 34, will be an interesting wrinkle to start 2020 for the Rams.

Atlanta are 8/1 to win the MLS Cup with LAFC 15/8 and DC United are at 14/1.
