Kuala Lumpur: There were plenty of movers and shakers in the leagues across ASEAN in the past week as the domestic competitions in the region continued to excite.

There is a new leader in Vietnam, a Thai heavyweight is easing relegation fears, the table is beginning to take shape in Indonesia and things remain tight at the top in Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore.

Vietnam

Hanoi FC moved to the top of V.League 1 after goals from Nguyen Van Quyet and Pape Omar Faye – the heroes in the AFC Cup win over Ceres Negros – in a 2-1 victory over Hai Phong on Monday.

The win saw the capital city side take full advantage of Ho Chi Minh City’s 1-0 loss to Viettel FC a day earlier, with the defeat leaving them a point adrift of Hanoi.

At the other end of the table, Sanna Khanh Hoa remain six points from safety after going down 3-1 to Thanh Hoa FC.

Thailand

Muangthong United continued their recent resurgence with a 3-2 victory over Bangkok United their third successive league win and moving them further clear of the relegation zone after a disastrous start to the season.

Defeat saw Bangkok slip from second to fourth, while Samut Prakan City jumped to second following a 1-0 win against Chonburi.

Buriram United remain top but saw their lead cut to just a point after a surprise goalless draw at home to bottom side Suphanburi.

Indonesia

Bali United remain out in front in Indonesia’s Liga 1 but, without a game at the weekend, saw TIRA Persikabo cut their lead to a point following a 3-1 win at Semen Padang.

Madura United, meanwhile, won their fourth game in five with a 2-0 victory over PSM Makassar to move back into third place.

The games continue to come thick and fast, and champions Persija Jakarta face arch rivals Persib Bandung on Wednesday with both sides desperate for points following disappointing starts to their campaigns.

Singapore

DPMM continue to occupy top spot in the Singapore Premier League but their 3-3 draw against Warriors coupled with Albirex Nigata Singapore’s 2-1 win over bottom side Young Lions saw the Brunei Darussalam team’s lead cut to just a point.

Tampines Rovers defeated Balestier Khalsa 4-2 on Sunday but remain a distant third as the title race seems set to be between the top two teams.

Philippines

Kaya FC-Iloilo hold a three-point lead at the top of the Philippines Football League after a goalless draw with Globe Green Archers United at the weekend.

Ceres Negros, who occupy second place, defeated Green Archers 4-3 last week and the top two teams will face off on Wednesday.

Malaysia

Having already wrapped up yet another Malaysia Super League title, Johor Darul Tazim's next task is to finish the season unbeaten and a 3-0 win over Perak on Saturday meant they remain on track.

Pahang stay in second place after a 2-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur, who drop into the bottom two, while Felda United’s 2-1 loss to Selangor sees them stay bottom.

Cambodia

Svay Rieng are looking strong at the C-League summit after seeing off National Police 2-0 to consolidate their five-point lead over NagaWorld, who defeated Asia Euro United 6-1.

Angkor Tiger’s 3-1 victory over National Defense Ministry keeps them in third, while second bottom Bati Academy U18 picked up just their fourth point of the campaign with a scoreless draw against Sirivong Sok Sen Chey but remain nine points from safety.

Myanmar

Defending Myanmar National League champions Yangon United are one point clear at the top following a 1-0 win against Yadanarbon on Saturday.

But Shan United’s 4-2 victory over Dagon sees them just a point behind in second and Ayeyawady United are a further two points back after a 2-1 win against bottom side Chinland in a congested top three.

Laos

An exciting two-way battle in Laos sees Lao Toyota marginally above Young Elephant by virtue of goal difference, albeit with a game in hand.

Timor-Leste

With Liga Futebol Amadora leaders Ponte Leste not in action at the weekend, second place Lalenok had the chance to move into pole position but could only pick up a point in a scoreless draw against Benfica Laulara.

At the other end of the table Academica Dili picked up their first points of the campaign by seeing off Karketu 1-0 as the pair subsequently swapped positions.
