Asante Kotoko promise grieving fans lost points will be restored as club launches appeal against DC ruling
Asante Kotoko’s spokesman Kwaku Ahenkorah has promised the fans the club will do all it takes to have their docked Premier League points restored.
The champions have been plunged into the relegation dogfight following a Disciplinary Committee ruling to dock them six points over the use of an unqualified player.
Striker Obed Owusu was ruled to have been ineligible to play for Kotoko in their 2-1 win against Hearts of Oak a few weeks back due to accumulated cautions.
Several Kotoko officials and supporters have reacted angrily to the ruling of the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee with some even suggesting the club boycotts the league.
But Kotoko’s spokesman Kwaku Ahenkorah has assured the fans that officials are already working acidulously to have their lost points restored.
"We are going to fight this case until our points are restored," he said.
"We know where this ruling is coming from and I tell you we will fight it.
"This is not a threat but a promise and we will fight for our points.
"Our lawyers are arming themselves and at the right time, we will strike."
Kotoko have already filed an appeal to the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and have also revealed they will be filling for a stay of execution to have their points restored pending hearing of their appeal.
