"?Arsenal are reported to be interested in bringing Bayern Munich attacker Mario Gotze to the Premier League.

According to "?The Sun, Arsene Wenger sees the 24-year-old as an ideal addition to his squad as they look to mount a serious title challenge after finishing second behind Leicester City last year.

Having scored the winning goal at the 2014 World Cup for Germany and won three consecutive Bundesliga titles with Bayern, the reported £27m fee could prove good value, even though his contract is up next summer.

"?"?The report also states that Wenger had considered bidding for Borussia Dortmund's Henrikh Mkhitaryan - who can also operate in numerous attacking positions - but the Armenian is said to favour a move to Manchester United to work under new manager Jose Mourinho.

If Arsenal do make an offer for the German international, they are likely to face serious opposition from Liverpool, who are managed by Gotze's former mentor, Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is expected to be handed a giant transfer fund to overhaul an under-performing squad. As his side are not in any European competition next season, he may focus on signing a few quality additions as opposed to wholesale changes.

Gotze is currently in France for the Euro 2016 tournament and started the game against Ukraine as a striker. He struggled to affect the game, but this was not his ideal position, and he has had numerous injuries in recent seasons.

The World Champions are in Group C along with Poland and Northern Ireland. Having won 2-0 in their opening game, Die Mannschaft are in a strong position to qualify for the last-16.
