Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare has credited Genk coach Thorsten Fink for persuading him to reject a summer move to Trabzonspor, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Arokodare, 23, has been in impressive form for Genk, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 13 Belgian Pro League matches.

However, he revealed that he was close to joining Trabzonspor due to feeling undervalued at Genk, where some analysts and podcasters doubted his starting lineup credentials.

"I felt like I couldn't do anything right anymore," Arokodare told Het Laatste Nieuws via VoetbalNieuws.

"Financially, I could also do a good thing [at Trabzonspor]."

But Fink's intervention changed Arokodare's mind.

"[Fink] reassured me completely," Arokodare said. "'Stay with me for one year and you'll be in the Premier League', he said. Something like that gives you a lot of confidence."
