Andy Okpe remains our player - Rivers United
Rivers United has stated that Andy Okpe remains a registered player of the club and is still under contract until 2027 despite transfer links elsewhere, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The club in a release via social media warns any agent, or intermediary not to engage in any talks on his sale as there will be legal implications.
"We wish to inform the general public, football stakeholders, and the media that Andy Okpe remains a registered player of the club and is still under contract until 2027", a statement from the club reads.
"Despite the player's unapproved absence and unknown whereabouts, Rivers United FC emphasizes that Andy Okpe's contractual obligations to the club remain binding and enforceable.
The club has not released the player from his contractual duties, and any claims of his availability for transfer or engagement with other clubs or agents are entirely unfounded.
In light of this, Rivers United FC hereby warns any football club, agent, or intermediary not to engage in any discussions, negotiations, or transactions with Andy Okpe without the express consent and authorization of the club."
The club calls on the NFF to ensure that any potential transfer or registration of Andy Okpe adheres strictly to the rules and includes the club’s prior authorisation.
Reaffirming its stance, the club stressed its commitment to protecting the integrity of contractual agreements in Nigerian football.
