Ghana and Marseille midfielder Andrew Ayew lamented his side’s lack of cutting edge after a 1-0 defeat to Nantes in the French Ligue 1.

Ayew who returned from a two game suspension in the loss against Nantes could not hide his disappointment as his side lost ground on league leaders  Lyon.

Coach Marcelo Bielsa’s side have ultimately given up the hope of winning the league after damaging defeats to PSG and now Nantes.

Ayew who has been a subject of intense transfer speculation from the Valedrome expressed his disappointment in their recent slump in form.

“We have to look forward because if we are go back and think about what we have lost we will have a headache,” Ayew told reporters after the game

“We have to target a clean sweep of the last five games to make it up to our fans.

“We created opportunities but we couldn’t score and that is unacceptable.

“For me it will be a shame to finish the season badly.”

The defeat means Marseille are over taken by Monaco on third place with five games to end the season.
