ANDRE Ayew has revealed Bafetimbi Gomis helped convince him to join English Premier League side Swansea City.

The Ghana striker signed a four-year deal at the Liberty after his contract at Marseille expired.

He arrives to bolster Garry Monk's attacking options and is likely to be competing with Gomis for game-time.

But that did not stop Swansea's other Ligue 1 recruit from recommending that Ayew make the switch from France, just as he did a year earlier.

"I spoke to Bafe, who really wanted me to come here," said Ayew.

"He told me about the club's record season and also about the team spirit, manager, training, the players and how everyone is united.

"Those are great things for me to hear. I know the squad will help me settle in and we will help each other to make Swansea a better team – that's what is important."
