Brighton striker Florin Andone says he is refreshed and ready for the new season and hopes to put injury problems to one side.

The Romanian striker joined the Seagulls last summer but injuries delayed his debut until November.

He then played 27 times for Albion, scoring five goals in a side that struggled to preserve their Premier League status.

Everybody is the same and now we need to work hard to show him what we can do.

Chris Hughton left the club at the end of the season, replaced as manager by Graham Potter and Andone says, after enjoying a break, he is ready for pre-season to begin.

He told the club's official website: "I'm very excited because it's a new year and I feel fit and ready to start. The break was needed because the end of last season was tough for everyone and very hard.

"We got the job done and reached our target of staying up, and for everyone it was important to have a break to rest mentally and recharge again."

The striker added that, with the arrival of Potter, who joins after a season in charge of Swansea, it was a clean slate, saying: "Everybody is the same and now we need to work hard to show him what we can do and that we're ready to play and do our best."

Albion have four pre-season games arranged in July, taking on FC Liefering, Crawley, Fulham and Birmingham City.

They begin the new Premier League season away to Watford on 10th August with Potter having his home debut as manager a week later when West Ham visit the Amex Stadium.

Brighton are 3/1 to win at Vicarage Road on the opening day with Watford 10/11 and the draw 12/5.

The Seagulls ended the last campaign just two points clear of the bottom three and are priced at 15/8 to be relegated at the end of the season with Aston Villa 9/4.
