Head Coach of Nigeria Golden Eaglets, Emmanuel Amuneke, has advised indigenous coaches to be open to learning as it will help them update their coaching skills.

Amuneke gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday.

He said that indigenous coaches could improve on their technical skills by encouraging themselves and sharing information.

He said it was not true that Nigerian coaches were not qualified and knowledgeable

“Be open to learning, that’s my advice to the coaches; am still learning; we must be able to challenge ourselves.

“We are aware that there is no platform for coaches here; the average belief is that coaches are not good.

“I think we have coaches that are qualified, knowledgeable; we have coaches that want to learn, we have coaches that want to improve our football.

“We have to encourage ourselves, that’s my advice to the coaches; we must be able to share information, coaching is not just about you coach and that is the end.

“I learn, I have done a lot of courses, I have done master in sports, I have master in techniques and tactics and I still want to learn.

“Here in Nigeria nobody will encourage you as a coach because the common believe is that the coaches are not good, the coaches collect bribe.’’
