Amine Gouiri injury boost for Marseille as thigh problem eases
Olympique Marseille have been handed a boost after Amine Gouiri’s thigh injury was found to be less serious than initially feared.
The forward returned early from international duty with Algeria because of the problem, but, according to L’Equipe, he is expected to recover in time for Marseille’s Ligue 1 match against ESTAC Troyes on October 11.
There is less certainty over Algeria team-mate Himad Abdelli, who suffered an ankle injury while on international duty. Abdelli has remained with the national team while his condition is assessed.
Marseille will be without Derek Cornelius for a much longer period. The defender is expected to miss the rest of the current period until early 2027 because of a hip injury.
There is more positive news regarding Tochukwu Nnadi, who is due to return to first-team training this week after recovering from the knee injury he sustained in August.
Geoffrey Kondogbia remains unavailable, however, as he continues his rehabilitation from a thigh problem suffered during the match against AS Monaco.
