Allegri explains Kevin De Bruyne substitution in Napoli’s win over Bologna

Massimiliano Allegri said Kevin De Bruyne was replaced because the Napoli midfielder had used up a great deal of energy during their 1-0 Serie A victory over Bologna.

De Bruyne started the match but was taken off in the 88th minute, with Mathias Olivera coming on in his place. The Belgium international did not score or provide an assist during his time on the pitch.

Stanislav Lobotka scored the only goal of the fourth-round match as Napoli secured all three points.

Allegri’s side now have six points and are currently 10th in the Serie A table.
