Al-Ahly remains Africa's best team despite CAF Super Cup loss
This is the first time for the Red Devils to lose in the Super Cup on penalties, after winning twice in 2006 and 2007, when the team had six titles for the cup out of eight attempts including this last game, setting a challenging record for many teams in the continent to achieve.
Al-Ahly club lost the CAF Super Cup game against Algerian ES Sétif club, after the match ended with a tie of 1-1.
The teams were thus forced to resort to penalty kicks, which ended in favour of ES Sétif against Al Ahly. Al-Ahly missed one kick to end with 5-6 in favour of the Algerian team.
Al Ahly lost the chance to score more points in the continental international championships. Its rank is steady at 20 against strong European teams like Real Madrid and Italian Milan, who won only 18 continental champions each.
As such, Al-Ahly continues to be the best internationally in terms of the number of championships.
