Sunshine Stars continue their dominance in the Ondo FA Cup, beating Akure City Academy 2-1 on Wednesday to retain the most coveted trophy in the state.

The Owena Whales faced a stiff resistance from City in an opening half with a few attempts that yielded no goal.

Sunshine Stars rang the changes at the interval as Sunday Abe, Leo Ugochukwu, Azeez Ajagbe, Ebonam Nwogbaga and Promise Awosanmi were all thrown into the fray.

In-form midfielder, Ajagbe broke the deadlock 20 minutes into the second period with a low drive into the bottom left, and the result was put beyond doubt in added time with a well-taken free kick goal by Abe.

Akure City found reprieve when Sunshine Stars got penalised for alleged hand ball in the area and Alade Abass converted from the spot to bring the contest to an end; 2-1.
