Ajax sack Calvin Bassey's coach
Ajax have announced the end of its relationship with head coach, Alfred Schreuder, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The club claimed the decision was because of the disappointing results and lack of development within the team.
Alfred Schreuder's contract runs till June 30th 2024, however, the management of the club has stated they they are no longer confident about their agreement, with the assistant coach Matthias Kaltenbach’s contract also to be terminated with immediate effect.
Speaking on the development, club's CEO Edwin van der Sar said:
"This is a painful decision, but it’s necessary. Regardless of the good start to the season, we lost a lot of unnecessary points. The football itself was precarious too.
"Due to the World Cup, we had an early and long break during the winter. We gave Alfred our time and trust to change the way things were going. It became clear to us that he could not change the tide.
"Regardless of the many transfers that took place, we consider the squad fit for a championship. We lost a lot of points over the last few weeks and sadly saw a lack of progression."
Out of the 26 games Alfred Schreuder managed, he won 12, drew 7 and lost 7. A 46.15 win percentage.
