Ajax close to signing former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma

Ajax are close to reaching an agreement with 30-year-old midfielder Yves Bissouma, according to ESPN.

The Mali international is a free agent after his contract with Tottenham expired last summer. That means he could complete a move to Ajax after the transfer window has closed.

Bissouma has made 202 appearances in the Premier League, scoring five goals and providing two assists. He played for Brighton before joining Tottenham.

His most recent season was disrupted by injuries, with the midfielder featuring in only 11 league matches.

Ajax have previously shown interest in Bissouma because of his qualities on the pitch. However, the club had concerns about his fitness and conduct before pursuing a possible deal.

In 2024, Tottenham suspended Bissouma after he used nitrous oxide.
