Ajax Amsterdam sign Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma on contract until 2027

Yves Bissouma has officially joined Ajax Amsterdam on a contract running until 30 June 2027, after leaving Tottenham at the end of his deal this summer.

The 30-year-old Mali international will wear the number 28 shirt after completing his move to the Netherlands. His arrival gives Ajax an experienced option in midfield following Bissouma’s several seasons in the Premier League.

Bissouma had been available as a free agent and attracted interest from several European clubs before choosing Ajax Amsterdam as the next step in his career. The move was first reported exclusively by Africafoot before the Dutch club confirmed the agreement on its social media channels.

Ajax step up pursuit

Ajax Amsterdam had been monitoring Bissouma’s situation for several weeks, with discussions over a potential move beginning in August. The club, working under the direction of Jordi Cruyff, identified the Mali midfielder as a player who could strengthen its midfield.

Those negotiations have now concluded with Bissouma signing for the Amsterdam club, ending the uncertainty over his next destination. Ajax’s announcement also brought to a close speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future after his departure from Tottenham.

Bissouma arrives with considerable experience of European football and the demands of the Premier League.
