Ola Aina delivered an impressive performance as Nottingham Forest secured qualification for the UEFA Europa League semi-finals with victory over FC Porto, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigerian defender played the full 90 minutes as Forest edged past a 10-man Porto side at the City Ground, progressing after a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Portugal.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored the decisive goal, sealing a historic result for Forest, who have now reached the semi-finals of a European competition for the first time since 1984.

Porto’s challenge was dealt an early blow when Jan Bednarek was sent off just eight minutes into the contest following a high challenge on Chris Wood.

Aina’s solid display at the back earned him a strong rating of 7.40 from BBC Sport, highlighting his influence in the crucial encounter.

Fellow Nigerians Terem Moffi and Zaidu Sanusi were also in action for Porto, although both players were substituted in the second half.

Nottingham Forest will now face Aston Villa in the semi-finals as they continue their remarkable European campaign.
