The Black Princesses of Ghana have emerged gold medalists of the African Games women's football event after beating defending champions, Nigeria on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Ghana staged a fine comeback to beat the Falconets 2-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium, Ghana after 120 plus extra minutes of play.

The Nigerian U-20 Women had opened score after Loveth Edeh capitalized on goalkeeper Afi's blunder to put the Falconets in front on 24 minutes.

The Nigerian ladies could have been 2-0 up before the end of the first half, but were denied by the up right.

The Falconets continued with the momentum, but will later rue missed chances as Tracy Twum brought the Princesses on level terms on 78 minute.

The encounter moved to extra time after it ended 1-1 at full time.

In the 99 minute, Mukarama Abdullai gave the hosts the lead as the Princesses held on to defeat their rivals and clinch gold at the end.
