Super Eagles legend, John Obi Mikel as tipped Nigeria to wiin the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations starting in Cote d'Ivoire in 8 days time, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Mikel who won the AFCON glory with the Super Eagles in 2013 while asked who will lift the trophy in an interview session with CNN's senior sports analyst, Darren Lewis, said Nigeria.

"Like I have said few times, he looks a little bit like Didier Drogba. A littel bit of similarities here and there, he said about Osimhen.

"He scores goals, he hold up play, strong, young energetic striker, I think when it comes to that department, when it comes to the strike force, I think right now we are blessed.

"We are blessed with a lot of players there, Awoniyi is doing really well for Nottingham Forest and for the national team, we have also Boniface for Leverkusen who is doing really well, you know we are quite blessed when it comes to strike force for the national team for now but we just need to fix a little issues here and there, with the defence, the goalkeeping issue and I think we can be able to do that, we got a very good chance," he concluded.

Nigeria will camapign in the group A of the 2023 AFCON against host Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

They kickoff their campaign on Sunday the 14th of January against Equatorial Guinea at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe by 3pm local time.
