The Nigeria under twenty team (U20)  have lost their semi final match against the Scorpions of Gambia in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON U-20 on Monday evening at Cairo International Stadium. Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 7-time champions fell by a lone scored in the first half of the game by Adama Bojang in the 8th minute of the game.

Despite dominating early proceedings, it was Gambia who drew the first blood as Bojang capitalised on a poor back pass from Onuche Ogbelu to finish past Aniagbaso.

The Nigerian team rise with the ascendency to equal score, but there was no clear cut chance to change the scoreline as the first phase ended advantage, Gambia.

In the second half, it was still a not too convincing display by the Junior Eagles as they barely threatened their opponents.

But substitute Ahmed Abdullahi was awarded a penalty after being upended less than 10 minutes to the end of the game, but he missed as the ball hit the post.

Njie was later sent off for Gambia after receiving a second yellow card five minutes to the end of the game, but Gambia survived to win the contest.

Gambia who makes the final for the first time will play Senegal who defeated Tunisia by three goals to nil in the first semi final game on Monday.

While Nigeria will seek a third place finish against Tunisia.
