Nigeria Men's National team earned a big win over Benin Republic in their first match of the African Cup of Nations Qualifiers on Saturday night, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles defeated the Cheetahs 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium courtesy of a brace from Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.

It was Atalanta BC star, Lookman who broke the deadlock at the stroke of half time after a largely dominated half by the Nigerian team.

The Balon D’or nominee received the ball at the left hand side, ghost and wriggles past three Benin Republic players  inside the box before side footing into the back of the net.

The Super Eagles got into the second half with more purpose to score as Coach Eguaveon made three substitutions bringing Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Olisa Ndah and Moses Simon for Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze.

The 2023 AFCON deputy champions continued the ascendency and power with introduction of Victor Osimhen.

Reigning African footballer of the year,  Osimhen came in for Victor Boniface on 72 minute and 6 minutes later got the second goal.

Osimhen latched home the second with a half volley as he went celebrating by doing his trademark; removing his mask. Respite for the Eagles

Lookman put the icing on the cake on 83 minute with a header after a cross from Moses Simon to seal victory for the Eagles.

Nigeria play Rwanda three days later in Kigali.
