Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro is hopeful Alhassan Yusuf's injury will not be for long after the midfielder was stretched out in game against Equatorial Guinea in the African Cup of Nations opener, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Royal Antwerp suffered an injury in the 68th minute of the game and was replaced by Southampton's Joseph Aribo in the Super Eagles 1-1 draw against the Thunder of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

The Portuguese gaffer hopes Yusuf who had a wonderful performance against the Guineans will be available for the Cote D'Ivoire match.

"I hope that this injury is not a big injury. I hope the injury is not strong so that he can play the next match because he showed everybody that he deserves to play for the Super Eagles", Peseiro said in the post match conference.

Yusuf, who was not initially in the final 25-man squad list released by Peseiro, joined the team as a replacement for injured Wilfred Ndidi.

The Super Eagles will play in four days time against host nation, Cote D'Ivoire and hopefully Alhassan will be fit for the important tie.
