The Bafana Bafana of South Africa Coach, Hugo Broos has extolled the performance of their opponents, Nigeria in the semi final of the African Cup of Nations on going in Cote D'Ivoire, Nigeriasoccernet.com

In what will be a repeat of the 2000 semifinal that saw the Super Eagles overcome the 1996 champions 2-0 in Lagos, Broos spoke ahead of the clash on Wednesday.

The former AFCON winner revealed the Nigerian team he saw against Angola is very good and boost of good players like Ademola Lookman.

He however state that they would analyse the West Africans to explore their weaknesses while taking cognizance of their qualities.

“I think Nigeria is a team that has become better and better [throughout the competition] when I saw them [against Angola] I saw a very good team, with a very good striker, a few good players,” Broos said.

“Lookman, the one who scored the goal, very good player, so we have to analyse a bit more because we didn’t have the time [before the quarter-final]. We know now that it’s us in the semi-finals – so we’ll analyse as soon as we can and see how we can use their weaknesses in the team but also be aware of the qualities they have.

Broos also disclosed that the encounter is special for the two teams as they both go head to head soon the qualifiers of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“It’s special for both teams, in a few months we play against each other for the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup, so it can be a test for both of us.”

The two sides will trade tackles in the last 4 for one of the final tickets at the Peace Stadium of Bouaké on Wednesday at 6pm Nigerian time.
