Chippa United has deleted post of owner, Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi declaring support for Nigeria Super Eagles ahead of their semi final clash with South Africa on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Chippa is a South African that has Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali as it number one goalkeeper and the owner in a shocking scenario opted not to support his own country in the stead of their rivals, Nigeria, one which did not go down well with South Africans.l

The Chippa Boss released a statement on Wednesday expressed happiness over the fact that about 30 players of the South African League.

Mpengesi then incredibly went on to reveal: "As the Chairman of Chippa United FC and as a proud South African, I find myself in a unique position during the 2023 AFCON tournament in that our very own Nigeria international Stanley Nwabali has been a revelation.

"His performance for the Nigerian National Team has caught the eyes of the glob, earning him and our club international acclaim. With Stanley's rising profile and international attention it brings to Chippa United FC, the benefits have been nothing but positive," reads Mpengesi's statement, adding:

"Therefore, I and Chippa United FC stand behind our player Stanley Nwabali and the Nigerian Super Eagles against South Africa Bafana Bafana. We wish the Super Eagles all the best," concludes Mpengesi.

His opinion was greeted with outburst and condemnation by South African fans and football enthusiast.

The post has however been deleted after hours of backlash by South Africans.

The match comes up by 6pm Nigeria time on Wednesday at the Peace Stadium of Bouaké.
