Ghana have been handed a massive boost ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month after Kwadwo Asamoah returned to the pitch for the first time in five months.

The 26-year-old joined his Juventus colleagues in training on Sunday morning as they prepare for the return fixture of their UEFA Champions League semi-final return leg against Real Madrid.

The former Udinese man took part in the full session and showed signs of tremendous improvement from the career-threatening injury he suffered in December last year.

The return of Asamoah will delight Black Stars coach Avram Grant ahead of the start of the qualifiers for the next continental showpiece in June.

Ghana will begin qualifying campaign against Mauritius at home on 14 June in Group H. The Black Stars will then travel to Kigali to face Rwanda on the weekend of 4-6 September for the next round of matches to end the year.
