Guinea players' hopes of getting $50,000 each for defeating Ghana in the quarter-final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations were severely dashed when the Black Stars thrashed the Sylli Nationale 3-0 in Sunday's match.

Guinea players were promised a US$ 50,000 winning bonus each if they beat Ghana to reach the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

But their hopes for the big pay day were dashed when the Black Stars dominated them and convincingly won the match which means Guinea players will not get the bonuses.

The Syli National were paid US$ 30,000 a-player for reaching the quarter-final despite being lucky with the drawing of lots which saw them advanced ahead of Mali.

On-loan Everton winger Christian Atsu opened the scoring after just four minutes when he powered home from close range after good work from Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan in the build-up.

Kwesi Appiah doubled Ghana’s lead just before the half-time whistle when he made the most of some poor defending to slot past the Guinea goalkeeper Yattara.

Atsu claimed his second of the game just after the hour mark when he curled a superb effort into the top corner to leave the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Yattara  was dismissed in stoppage time for bringing down Gyan and Guinea was forced to play out the dying seconds with Abdoulaye Cisse in goal after the team had used all three substitutions.

Ghana will now play Equatorial Guinea in the semi-final.
