Captain Asamoah Gyan remains a doubt for Ghana's clash against Africa's best side Algeria in their must win 2015 Africa Cup of Nations match in Mongomo on Friday as coach Avram Grant is unable to say whether the striker will be available for the match.

The former Chelsea coach says Gyan must undergo a last minute fitness test by the Ghana medical team before a decision is taken whether he should play the match.

The Al Ain ace missed the opening Group C defeat to Senegal on Monday due to illness.

Grant’s side is however likely to profit from the return of his prolific captain for Friday’s must-win clash against Algeria as he did some light shake up with the team since Tuesday.

The 29-year-old returned to full-scale training with the side on Thursday night ahead of the game against Algeria.

"Gyan is sick and is doing everything to play. I hope he plays. We want him to play because we have a young team," Avram Grant told a pre-match press conference.

"In our game against Senegal apart from Harrison Afful, all our players were 24 and below.

"He is a good leader and one of the best strikers in Africa.

"If he does not play we will find another solution like we did against Senegal."

Gyan was sorely missed in the game as the Black Stars threw away an early lead to lose 2-1 to Senegal.

Ghana is desperate for a win following its opening group defeat to Senegal to resurrect their campaign in Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars face an early exit if the team is unable to secure the desired result against the tournament favourites on Friday.

Since Rabiu Mohammed came our style of play has changed, our game use to be tic tac and attack at the same time, now is long passes and chasing after the ball. Rabiu Mohammed needs to be replaced for a natural defensive midfielder,Rabiu and Jordan are useless.

What other solution,by playing useless Jordan Ayew, think about playing Jordan again and we will loose again,a striker who can't put pressure on defenders,I'm sure there's some one on the bench who is better than him.

Why telling people to shut up? Everyone has a right to critisices the team players if they fail to deliver.the taxis we paid are all they used to paid players.there were better players on the bench to try them up thats why the coach invited them

We dont necessarily need gyan to win this game.we need a midfieder who can distribute accurate passes in midfield.otherwise gyans presence wont yield any results.

You are right Sam;this guy has no right to tell you to shut up;we live in a free country;and everyone has right to express his opinion.by the way;Jordan is lazy striker from the way i saw him on the Senegal match. He should replace him with Accam ;if Gyan is unable to play

jordan played well at the last game. although the finishing is not there yet. i agree we need a more creative midfield. rabiu is just makelele. he would only fit in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1
