Turkish club Adanaspor has officially welcomed Nigerian international Innocent Bonnke to their ranks, securing the midfielder from French Ligue 2 side FC Lorient, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Born in 1996 in Kaduna, Nigeria, Bonnke began his footballing journey with Bujoc FC before moving abroad, where he honed his skills at Lillestrøm SK in Norway and later Malmö FF in Sweden. His performances in Sweden drew attention across Europe, and he eventually joined FC Lorient in 2022.

Bonnke is known for his defensive midfield capabilities, offering solidity and ball-winning prowess in the center of the pitch. He was a key figure during his time at Malmö, where he helped the club win multiple league titles, including back-to-back Allsvenskan championships in 2020 and 2021. His time in Ligue 1, although short, provided him experience in one of Europe’s top leagues.

The 27-year-old has also been a part of the Nigerian national team setup, earning several caps for the Super Eagles since making his debut in 2021. His defensive discipline and work rate in midfield have made him a valuable asset for both club and country.

Adanaspor has signed Bonnke on a 1+1 year deal, with the club expressing their excitement for the new addition.

“We are thrilled to bring Bonke Innocent into our team and look forward to his contributions in the Orange-White jersey,” the club stated in an official announcement.

His arrival is seen as a significant boost to the team’s midfield options as they aim to improve their standing in the Turkish league.

With this move, Bonnke brings with him not only experience from playing in various European leagues but also his international pedigree, and Adanaspor fans will be eager to see how he impacts the squad.
