Abia Warriors boss Imama calls Niger Tornadoes defeat a ‘big lesson’

Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo says his team must learn from their disappointing 1-0 home defeat by Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Umu Chineke were beaten at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday after Wasiu Jimoh scored the only goal of the match four minutes before the hour mark.

The result gave Niger Tornadoes their first away victory of the season and moved Kabiru Dogo’s side up to ninth in the NPFL table. They have 15 points from 10 matches.

Imama acknowledged the visitors’ display after the game, highlighting the determination and resilience they showed to secure victory away from home.

“I think Tornadoes showed character and resilience to come here and produce such a great performance, and it is a big lesson for us,” Imama said, according to NPFL media.

The defeat leaves Abia Warriors needing to improve as they prepare for their next league fixture. The Umuahia-based club have won only one of their home matches in the NPFL this season.
