Aaron’s Injury Scares CSKA
CSKA Moscow of Russia attacker, Aaron Samuel Olanere may have his hopes of an extended deal at the army-owned club dashed by his ongoing battle with injury, as the club’s coach, Leonid Slutsky admits they are currently weighing the situation.
Aaron is scheduled to undergo surgery in Germany at the end of this month or first week of June, after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the Russian Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg.
Slutsky has now hinted that Aaron’s battle to recover from the setback will determine if CSKA will eventually handed the attacker on loan from Guangzhou R&F of China an extension in Moscow.
He said the Russian champions would love to extend Aaaron’s contract, but said it will now have to depend on the success of the striker’s surgery.
Aaron’s contract with the Muscovites will run out on May 31 and, though there had been initial reports that he has already put pen to paper on a three year deal with The Armymen, Slutsky has now confirmed the contrary.
“We would like to continue cooperation. But some specifics will be after surgery. Everything depends on the situation of things – how serious the injury is, what period of rehabilitation, whether the injury have further consequences.
“Unfortunately, Dr. Einhorn, to which we send the players with a cruciate ligament injury, is on vacation. As far as I know, the operation is scheduled for the end of May,” Slutsky told sport-express.ru on Monday.
