New Sevilla signing Kelechi Iheanacho has praised the club's sporting director, Victor Orta, for his role in convincing him to join the Spanish LaLiga side, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City.

In his first interview with the club, the Nigerian forward revealed that Orta's efforts were instrumental in his decision to sign a two-year contract with Sevilla, with the option of an additional year.

Iheanacho, 27, who is Sevilla's fifth summer signing, described Orta as "a great guy" who has been monitoring his progress for some time. "He knows the striker I am," Iheanacho said.

"He's been doing a great job for the football club, and that's why it wasn't really hard to make this decision."

Iheanacho's comments highlights the significant influence Orta had on his move to Sevilla.
