Nigeria's youngster, George Ilenikhena was the hero of the night as AS Monaco got their first win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Ilenikhena scored the winning goal as the French Ligue 1 side edged the Spanish La Liga giants 2-1 at the Stade Louis-II in France.

Maghnes Akliouche had put the hosts in front on 16 minutes after Eric Garcia was giving the matching order after 10 minutes of action.

Barcelona rallied back with 10 men to equal score twelve minutes later courtesy of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal who scored his first UEFA Champions League goal.

In the second half, Monaco's starlet from Nigeria, George Ilenikhena put the dagger in the heart of the Spanish side with 18 minutes left to end of the game.

The 18-year-old with a through ball hit a left-footed shot beyond goalkeeper Ter Stegen to eventually give his side the win.

He becomes the youngest Monaco player to score in the UEFA Champions League at 18 years and 34 days usurping Kylian Mbappé who scored at 18 years and 63 days against Manchester City for Monaco.
