The Nigeria U-17 coach, Nduka Ugbade believes his team’s victory over Zambia will give his boys mental advantage going forward in the competition, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Golden Eaglets at the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, defeated Zambia 1-0, courtesy a second half strike by Favour Daniel on Sunday.

The battle could have gone either ways but despite the five time champions missing a penalty, Ugbade’s boy’s managed to scale through.

Ugbade stated that the win will serve as a perfect template for his side to do well in the competition.

“Most of the time, for the young teams, the most important thing is psychology. Not physicality, tactics or anything,” Ugbade was quoted by CAFonline.

“Winning the first game gives us a mental edge and psychologically, we are better than we started,” said the tactician.

The Nigerian boys next game is against Morocco on Wednesday.
