Zaidu Sanusi has made a long-anticipated return to action after a lengthy injury lay-off as FC Porto suffered League Cup elimination against Sporting CP yesterday, coming on as a substitute at the Estádio Municipal Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, in Leiria, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles defender who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that ruled him out of the 2023/2024 campaign under Sergio Conceicao who is now the head coach of AC Milan made his first appearance in about 46 weeks without action, coming on in the 64th minute as Porto ran out eventual losers against their bitter foe.

After going down in the 56th minute from Gyökeres strike, Vítor Bruno sent in Zaidu and other attacking players in a bid to spark a comeback but Sporting held onto their slim lead to advance into the next round of the Taca da Liga.

Zaidu would be hoping for more action as he's gradually eased into the XI with the game against Nacional in the Liga Portugal up next.
